I've worked for this company for like 9 years now just about.
Last couple years I've been promoted a couple of times and now it's pretty much just the VP and the owners above me.
That being said I just don't feel like I have any degree of autonomy in anything and our goals aren't really clear. The owners inherited the company from their father and are pretty laissez faire and have discussed selling it in the past. They sold a bunch of other business they owned since their father died.
Anyway, post covid and when I took control it's become pretty profitable. I've seen financial statements from before and thinks are a lot better. Like went from barely profitable or not even profitable to 40% profit margins in operations and it's looking like it's going to be around 20-23% net profit this year.
I was told when I started 40% is the goal they were shooting for but from the VP "that's probably not realistic."
I've brought costs down otherwise, but paid employees more, kind of had to.
I struggle with interpersonal skills cause image board internet autist but understand the business and have done well in sales otherwise.
I got two raises last year, my standard annual performance review one and then one kind of out of the blue, I was expecting a bonus but they just have me a raise instead.
Okay, all that being said, I get pulled into my own office by the VP and get a stern talking to about various minor things, like I don't focus on sales enough and I come off like a sarcastic asshole sometimes which I totally am honestly.
Anyway, I'm pretty miffed about that and I don't know if I'm over reacting. I might be overly loyal but I think I see the writing on the wall here and should gtfo and get mines. When we were doing a budgeting and projections for this year I like to generally do averages and be conservative just to be practical but they insisted on a 5% increase in sales and decrease our costs in ways that don't really make sense like they're setting me up for failure. So all that put together I'm thinkin wtf am I doing in this place anymore.
